“At the time of writing this film, I was thinking about the industry’s recent centennial of 'talkies' and about the silent films from which they originated. Those storytellers communicated their worlds entirely through the moving image and the films were inherently accessible to audiences of different languages and ability. ‘Vroom Vroom’ is a project designed around this goal. It’s a non-dialogue, modern-day ‘silent’ film, but adds modern tools like full sound effects, beautiful color, sophisticated camera techniques, full-orchestral music and an immersive, sweeping story. In achieving a film designed to appeal to a wide audience, young/old, hearing/non-hearing, English speaking/non, this family film does not discriminate. Outside of this technical cinematic goal for the film, I wanted to tell a story about a kid’s love for his parents and their favorite car and to use the story to surprise, delight and entertain.”
